Guide to Medford Library's Fall 2024 Read A Thon

Prompts

Bronze level prompts (1 entry per prompt)

1. Read a book about royalty.

2. Read a book that features magic or is about/inspired by mythology.

3. Read a book that features college or school-like themes.

4. Read a book that features mental health or self-care.

5. Read a book that features spies or crime, or that classifies as a mystery.

6. Read a book that features dragons or medieval theming.

7. Read a book that is by a female author.

8. Read a book that is by a male author.

9. Read a book that features a female protagonist.

10. Read a book that features a male protagonist.

11. Read a book that features a LGBTQIA+ protagonist.

12. Read a book that has been adapted into a movie or TV show.

13. Read a book that features accurate historical elements.

14. Read a book that has been on #BookTok.

15. Read a book that seems scary or thrilling.

16. Read a book that takes place in the World War 2 period.

17. Read a book that takes place during the Civil Rights period.

18. Read a book that features vampires, zombies, ghosts, and/or other monsters.

19. Read a book that features a robot, space or aliens.

20. Read a book that features romance.

21. Read a book that features more than one story or essay.

22. Read a book that you loved as a kid.

23. Read a book that features photography.

24. Read a book that features plagues or illnesses.

25. Read a book that features a main character with a disability or is neurodivergent.

 

*Remember, entries can stack, so try to find books that meet multiple prompts to earn the maximum number of entries per book!

Silver Level Prompts (2 entries per prompt)

1. Read a nonfiction book..

2. Read a graphic novel.

3. Read a book that is 300 or more pages long.

4. Read an E-Book.

5. Read a book that is written by an LGBTQIA+ author.

6. Read a book that is written by an author that is a part of an ethnic minority.

7. Read a memoir or autobiography.

8. Read a collection of poetry.

9. Read a book written by a USCL Faculty/Staff member.

10. Read a book written by a disabled or neurodivergent author.

 

*Remember, entries can stack, so try to find books that meet multiple prompts to earn the maximum number of entries per book!

Gold level prompts (4 entries per prompt)

1. Read a book you had previously given up on as a kid.

2. Read a banned book.

3. Read an adaptation of a classical book you read in school.

4. Read a book that doesn’t have a dust jacket cover, or that does not have cover art.

5. Read a book from a genre that you have never before or a book that is from a younger reading level than yours.
