Step 1: Get your "passport" bookmark!

First step: Collect your "Passport" bookmark! Pick them up at our Welcome Week activity on Tuesday, August 27th or visit the library's front desk any time. Step 2: Reporting your progress & collecting entries

When you fulfill a prompt, visit the library's front desk to report your progress! We'll stamp your passport bookmark to help you keep a record of your reading, then ask you to fill out a quick form so your entries are recorded. We'll add your entry to our prize-drawing pool.

Step 3: Prize drawing

We will draw ONE winning entry ticket after the Read A Thon ends on October 17, 2024. The winner will receive amazing USCL swag and bragging rights.

It's very important that you report your reading progress and entry ticket numbers accurately in our Google form so that we can contact you if you win!

More about prompts!

Our Read A Thon prompts come in three categories with varying point levels. You can earn multiple entries into the prize drawing with one book based on the prompts it fulfills!

Image shows how there are three different prompt categories. Bronze is worth 1 entry, Silver is worth 2 entries, Gold is worth 4 entries.

Read A Thon Prompts and Point Values

Our prompts come in 3 levels: Bronze (worth 1 entry), Silver (worth 2 entries), and Gold (worth 4 entries). There are more bronze level prompts, but 1 gold-level prompt is worth more than a bronze and a silver combined, so read strategically! Points can stack, so see if you can combine prompts to earn the maximum number of entries.

More about combining entries!

Remember that you can stack prompts from different levels to earn extra entries for reading one book! For example, if you pick a 300-page book about photography that doesn't have a dust jacket cover, you could get 4 entries!

Remember that it's your responsibility to report your reading progress and the prompts that you've fulfilled - we won't know to give you the "bonus" entries unless you point out all of your awesome accomplishments!

Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ #1: Can I stack bronze, gold, and silver prompts?

Answer: YES! If you can find books that fulfill multiple prompts, you can stack them to receive all potential points! Just be sure to explain your thought process so we can give you the right number of entries.

FAQ #2: If I fill up my entire passport bookmark (or lose it), can I get a new one?

Answer: YES! You can take as many as you like. The passport bookmark is not used to track entries, but instead serves as a way for you to monitor your own reading. We also think it's a cute souvenir :)
